Position Title: Head Women’s Swim & Dive Coach
Location: Jamestown, North Dakota
Employment Type: Full-time, 10-month exempt position

The University of Jamestown is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Head Swimming Coach to lead our Women’s Swimming & Diving program. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, and program administration, while fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth aligned with the university’s Christian mission.

The University of Jamestown is a private Christian university founded in 1883, located in Jamestown, North Dakota. We are proud members of the NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Our Jimmies Athletics programs emphasize competitive excellence, character development, academic success, and Christian values. The Women’s Swimming & Diving program competes at the NCAA DII level and is a vital part of our athletic offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
•  Lead and direct all daily training sessions, including technique work, conditioning, dryland training, and meet preparation for swimmers and divers.
•  Develop and implement seasonal training plans focused on long-term athlete development, stroke technique, and competitive performance.
•  Recruit qualified student-athletes who align with the academic and athletic standards of the University of Jamestown.
•  Mentor, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
•  Manage program budget, equipment, travel, and meet entries.
•  Ensure compliance with all NCAA, NSIC, and university rules and regulations.
•  Promote academic success by monitoring student-athlete progress and collaborating with academic support services.
•  Organize and participate in team-building, fundraising, and promotional activities.
•  Foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven team environment that emphasizes safety, sportsmanship, and personal character development.
•  Represent the program professionally at conferences, clinics, and community events.

Required Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field.
•  Minimum 3–5 years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate, club, or high school level (head coaching experience preferred).
•  Proven ability to recruit and develop competitive swimmers/divers.
•  Strong knowledge of stroke technique, training methodologies, and current trends in swimming & diving.
•  Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
•  Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
•  Commitment to the Christian mission and values of the University of Jamestown.

Preferred Qualifications:
•  Previous NCAA coaching experience, ideally at the DII level.
•  USA Swimming or equivalent coaching certification.
•  Experience with diving.
•  Demonstrated success in building or improving a collegiate swimming program.
