The University of Jamestown, a proud member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and NCAA Division II, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate leader to serve as Head Men’s Wrestling Coach for our competitive wrestling program.

This position reports to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate provides leadership, organization, supervision, and instruction for the Jimmie men’s wrestling program while fostering a positive team culture aligned with the university’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of daily operations for the wrestling program, including practice planning, in-season and off-season training, strength and conditioning, and competition strategy.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes who meet both athletic and academic standards.
  • Meet or exceed recruiting and retention goals.
  • Develop and manage the program budget, including equipment, travel, meals, uniforms, supplies, etc.
  • Ensure full compliance with all NCAA Division II, NSIC conference, and University of Jamestown rules and regulations.
  • Foster an atmosphere of academic success and personal development of all student-athletes.
  • Establish an effective communication plan with student-athletes.
  • Mentor and supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and support staff.
  • Organize and oversee team travel, scheduling, and event management including safe and efficient travel to and from competitions.
  • Build strong relationships with alumni, donors, and the local community to support program growth.
  • Represent the university and wrestling program with professionalism at conferences, clinics, and community events.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the academic success and holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Valid CDL or willingness to obtain one strongly preferred with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a head coach or significant assistant coach role in a successful collegiate wrestling program.
  • Team-first mentality and commitment to building a winning culture.
  • Experience with program development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and compliance
  • Proven ability to recruit competitive student-athletes.
