Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with student activities to include:
- SET staffing, budget, events, etc.
- Homecoming, Casino Night, Involvement Fair, and other engagement programming.
- Responsible for event management and student activities risk management procedures.
- Create effective marketing strategies for programs and events.
- Assist with student organizations to include:
- Provide leadership for student organizations such as, establishing new groups, developing programs, support organizational advisors, develop student organization handbook, etc.
- Advise UJ Student Senate.
- Advise UJ Activities Board.
- Coordinate annual student involvement fair.
- Assist with Welcome Weekend to include:
- Plan, develop, lead, evaluate and manage all aspects of the new student orientation program.
- Develop and administer the orientation budget, including budget forecasting, cash operations, planning, and monitoring of revenue and expenditures.
- Hire, facilitate and train orientation leaders, interns, and counselors.
- Assist with Community Block Party.
- Assist with sophomore retention management.
- Tracking, follow-up and support of at-risk sophomores/2nd year students.
- Events and programming. o Sophomore check-in and/or newsletter.
- Assist with junior retention management.
- Junior check-in email and/or newsletter.
- Connect at-risk students with resources/Career Center.
- Assist with support for specific populations of students
- Duties to include onboarding, mentor program, etc., for transfer students, spring semester starts, and non athletes.
- Assist with social media and marketing.
- Instagram posts about important deadlines and nudges toward good academic habits.
- Help promote student success events (finals fair, etc).
- Assist with Student Success Newsletter.
- New department e-newsletter informing campus community about retention and how they can support.
- Support retention task force groups.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college staff, faculty, and students.
- Proficient with smart technology, computers, multimedia and modern education technology.
- Learning theory and student characteristics for leadership development.
- Principles and practices of event and risk management, principles of student discipline, legal aspects of higher education, team development strategies.
